About The Double Standard

The Double Standard is a blog about double standards as they are applied to people of color. Authored by a black woman living in the whitest major city in the United States, The Double Standard both embraces and rejects identity politics, acknowledging that, for most of us, the identity that we are born into has an impact on our worldview. It is a learning and unlearning blog–I hope to learn as much from those who visit this site as I hope they learn from this blog. I also expect that I will do my fair share of unlearning.

Because no problem exists in a vacuum, the issue of racism will also be discussed in the context of sexism, classism, homophobia, xenophobia and any other “isms” or phobias of the day.

Please feel free to leave a comment and I will try to respond in a timely fashion.

Thanks for reading!

Annah

  1. Hi Annah- nice work on your blog- thoughtful, intelligent. Good way to get out your frustrations, eh? Thanks for helping out at AIDS Day.

  2. Thanks David!

I just visited your blog. I love the post about the woman on whose door you knocked! I could kind of see it as it happened. Good work getting out the vote! Have you considered doing it again?

I tried to leave a comment, but it wouldn’t let me since I’m not a Vancouver voter. :>T

As for my blog, thanks for the compliments.

Frustrations and hopes, I hope. :>) If all goes well, this blog will be more inspiring than despairing… Hopefully, so will the times.
